Testimonial: Moringa reduces the effects of diabetes

Xavier, 38, suffers from type 1 diabetes

testimony Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects nearly 6% of the world's population (source: WHO). In 2015, the French Federation of Diabetics counted 3.7 million French people receiving treatment for diabetes. In 2010, it estimated that another 700,000 people were unaware they had the disease.

Like 10% of French people with diabetes, Xavier suffers from type 1 diabetes. “ To put it simply ,” he told us, “ the pancreas no longer functions and no longer produces the insulin that cells need to use carbohydrates .” This results in abnormally high blood sugar levels, particularly during food intake (hyperglycemia), and abnormally low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia) during fasting or physical activity. These hypoglycemias manifest as sweating, headaches, tremors, etc. They can be serious if there is no rapid sugar intake, including a risk of coma. These events, which occur daily in patients whose disease is poorly controlled, have a devastating effect on the organs thus deprived of energy.

“It kind of fell into my lap by chance.”

It was quite a surprise ,” he recalls. “ I felt perfectly fine, I did a bit of exercise, I ate healthily… basically, I had a normal life. But a year ago, blood tests revealed that I had diabetes.

Xavier, 38, had no idea he might be prone to diabetes. And yet, his young age and lifestyle had nothing to do with it: 50% of type 1 cases appear before the age of 20. While the prevalence of the disease has been steadily increasing, at a rate of 3 to 4% per year for the past twenty years, its onset is actually occurring at increasingly early ages. The reasons for these changes remain unexplained to date, but changes in the environment and its interaction with the genome have been implicated: rates of viral infections, increasing maternal age, diet, exposure to toxins, etc.

Diabetics must adapt their lifestyle

There's the daily insulin injection, of course, and the constant monitoring of my blood sugar levels. Then I adapt my meals according to the physical activity I plan. Obviously, I avoid sugar. Yes, that's quite a lot .”

Especially since all this is not done without effort, explains Xavier: “ I spent a lot of time looking for what I could and should eat, based on carbohydrate intake. When you are type 1, you have to quantify everything to adapt the insulin dose of your treatment, it is difficult at the beginning ”. To finally find a solution: “ One day I came across an article that presented the stabilizing effect of Moringa on blood sugar . I said to myself why not ”.

Moringa helps reduce blood sugar levels in diabetics

A 2009 scientific study proved that consuming Moringa leaf infusion reduced blood sugar levels in diabetics with hyperglycemia . Thus, the results of this study show that drinking Moringa infusion has no significant effect on blood sugar levels in people with normal blood sugar levels (between 60 and 120 mg/dl) after two hours, but it did reduce blood sugar levels by 28.15 mg/dl in hyperglycemic patients. The study concluded that Moringa infusion therapy would be desirable, because it is cheap and easy to apply , for people with diabetes treated with insulin injections.

It's simple: less blood sugar, less insulin requirements. Less insulin intake, less risk of hypoglycemia.

“Taking your Moringa has allowed me to reduce the dosage of my insulin injections by 20%.”

What's better than experimenting for yourself? Xavier revealed that he noticed the benefits of Moringa on his blood sugar levels very quickly . “ I've been taking your Moringa for about three months, at the equivalent of two infusions per day. The results are noticeable: my blood sugar is more stable, and I have fewer spikes even when I overindulge. As a result, I've reduced the dosage of my insulin injections by about 20%. Another really nice thing: I have fewer hypoglycemias.

“It’s still practical as an infusion.”

I'm not the type of guy to rush into unknown remedies. And then there are food supplements... When I discovered that Moringa existed in other forms than capsules, I took the plunge. I really liked your packaging, which has a fun look. In fact, that's what made me want to try it. And since I generally like infusions...

A format that adapts perfectly to his lifestyle : “ As I am a salesperson and I am constantly traveling by car, I prepare thermoses in the morning. I arrive at my clients' houses with them, and they are quite interested! This summer, I will make myself cold infusions, even mixing them with other infusions to vary the pleasures.

“I’m sure it can work for those with type 2 diabetes.”

Drinking these Moringa infusions doesn't allow me to avoid treatment, of course, but a non-insulin-dependent type 2 diabetic (Editor's note: whose pancreas is still capable of producing insulin) could certainly reduce it or even do without it .” Indeed, type 2 diabetes is characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, resulting from a decrease in the sensitivity of cells – particularly those of the liver, muscle, and adipose tissue – to insulin. The pancreas is therefore pushed to produce ever more insulin in order to force the cells to absorb glucose, until total exhaustion. An exhausted pancreas no longer produces insulin.

Moringa helps regulate blood sugar levels and therefore slows down the pancreas's production of insulin. With less strain, it will be less likely to become exhausted. Xavier can then conclude: “ Moringa infusions could probably prevent the body of type 2 diabetics from deteriorating further .”
